Delhi Blast Death Toll Rises to 13, Red Fort Shut for 3 Days

New Delhi, November 10, 2025 — The death toll from the powerful explosion that rocked central Delhi on Monday has climbed to 13, with several others critically injured, officials confirmed late Tuesday evening. Authorities have imposed heightened security measures across the capital, including the temporary closure of the Red Fort, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, for the next three days.

According to preliminary reports, the blast occurred near a crowded market area during peak hours, causing widespread panic and chaos. Emergency response teams and police units swiftly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area as forensic experts began investigating the source of the explosion.

Delhi Police Commissioner Ravi Kumar Singh stated that initial findings suggest the use of a high-intensity improvised explosive device (IED). “We are working with national security agencies to trace those responsible. No angle is being ruled out,” Singh told reporters.

Hospitals across the city have been placed on alert as doctors struggle to treat victims suffering from severe burn injuries and trauma. Family members gathered outside major hospitals, seeking information about their loved ones as officials updated casualty lists.

In light of the incident, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has ordered the temporary closure of the Red Fort for three days as a precautionary measure. Security around key public and tourist sites, including India Gate, Parliament House, and metro stations, has been significantly tightened.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured that those behind the attack would face strict action. “This is a cowardly act meant to spread fear, but India stands united against terrorism,” he said in a statement.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror and confusion following the blast. “There was a loud noise, and within seconds everything was covered in smoke and dust,” said Rajesh Mehta, a shopkeeper who narrowly escaped injury. “People were running everywhere.”

Security agencies are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby shops and public installations as part of an ongoing investigation. Officials have urged citizens to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to the police.

As Delhi mourns the lives lost, authorities have vowed to strengthen surveillance and increase police presence across sensitive zones in the coming days.
