Sarapduli Forest Rest House: A Peaceful Hideout Inside Corbett’s Wild Heart

Sarapduli Forest Rest House: Where the Jungle Speaks

If you’ve ever dreamed of spending a night deep inside a forest — no crowds, no signals, just trees, birds, and the chance of spotting a wild animal — Sarapduli Forest Rest House is where you’ll want to be.

Tucked away in the Dhikala zone of Jim Corbett National Park, Sarapduli is one of the most peaceful and raw places I’ve ever stayed. It’s not easy to get to — you need to enter from Dhangarhi Gate, and then it’s around 18 km of jungle drive on a rough path. But once you’re there, the silence is magical.

How to Reach Sarapduli FRH

  • First, reach Ramnagar, the nearest town. It’s well connected by road and train — about 5–6 hours from Delhi.
  • From Ramnagar, you need to enter Jim Corbett National Park through the Dhangarhi Gate, which is the entry point for the Dhikala zone.
  • Sarapduli is about 18 km inside the forest, and can only be accessed by a registered safari vehicle with a guide.
  • You must book your stay and safari permit in advance through the forest department. No private vehicles are allowed inside the core zones.

There are only two rooms and one small dormitory, managed by the forest department. No electricity (just a bit of solar power), no mobile network, no restaurants. It’s just you, the jungle, and maybe a curious monkey or two.

The forest here feels alive — in the early morning, you can hear deer calling, birds chirping, and sometimes even elephants moving in the distance. The Ramganga River flows nearby, and if you’re lucky, you might see crocodiles or gharials sunbathing on the banks.

Food is simple — you bring your own raw supplies, and the cook makes basic vegetarian meals. At night, the only light comes from the moon and stars, and maybe a dim lantern. It feels like the world has slowed down.

What I loved most? The stillness. No traffic, no city noise, just the occasional rustle of leaves and the wild all around you.

If you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t the place. But if you want something real — a quiet stay where nature is your neighbor — Sarapduli FRH is unforgettable.
